3-Day Murchison Falls Safari

Overview 

This 3-day Murchison Falls safari is a special wildlife tour package designed for you to explore Uganda’s biggest park -Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy a game drive to see the big game in the wild and a boat cruise excursion along the Victoria Nile to the base of falls while viewing the diversity of aquatic life including hippos, crocodiles, and birds. 

 

Murchison Falls National Park is a spectacular Uganda-protected area, and the only park lying in the Northwestern part of the country. It is also Uganda’s biggest park with a land area measuring 3840sq.km and initially, it was gazetted as a Game Reserve in 1926. Murchison Falls N/Park features extensive savanna grassland and it is divided into two by the Victoria Nile creating the Northern & Southern sectors. 

 

Over 76 mammal species including 4 of the big 5 game live in this Murchison Falls National Park plus more than 451 species of birds, and it is home to the world’s most powerful waterfalls- Murchison Falls. This waterfall can be observed while it squeezes itself into a narrow rock of 8m and it plunges 43m down flowing towards the Albert Nile. Murchison Falls N/Park's strategic location makes it possible for you to also visit rhinos in the wild at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. 

 

 

Detailed Itinerary 

 

Day 1: Murchison Falls Park wildlife tour 

Have a delicious breakfast, after, you will be picked up by your safari guide at 7:00 am and before you set off, he will brief you about your 3-day Murchison Falls safari. After, begin your 6-7 hour drive trip from Kampala through the Luweero-Gulu highway, branch off at Nakasongola for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will be tracking rhinos in the wild. Continue to Masindi town for lunch after you have explored more about rhinos and from Masindi, transfer to your lodge for relaxation or drive to the top of the falls for photography and later, proceed to check in at the lodge.

Day 2: Morning game drive tour, boat excursion & hike to the top of the falls 

Leave your safari lodge for a 6:00 am guided game drive through the Northern game tracks of Murchison Falls National Park. The 2-3 game drive will you exposed to a myriad of wildlife such as leopards, lions, antelopes (oribis, Jackson’s hartebeest, waterbucks, Uganda kobs), elephants, the Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, birds and more. 

 

Get back to the lodge after a game drive, enjoy lunch and after relaxation, transfer to the Paraa Jetty for a boat excursion on the Victoria Nile to the base of the falls. A variety of aquatic life should be expected to see on a boat tour including hippos, crocodiles, and bird species. Have enough time to take pictures at the base of the falls, and later hike to the top for mesmerizing views and photography. Return to your safari lodge in a 4x4 tourist car.

Day 3: Depart for Kampala or Entebbe city 

Following a relaxing cup of tea/coffee, check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for the return trip to Kampala/Entebbe. As you exit Murchison Falls NP, more wildlife and birds will be spotted along the way including primates like baboons. You will have an early lunch break at Masindi town and continue to Kampala/Entebbe via Luweero. This day marks the end of the 3-day Murchison Falls safari.
